I love these moments when listening to a bunch of records you find one truely outstanding among them... the kind of record that make you wanna explore the whole discography of the artist(s). Now, here's such a record:

Pat D & Melodiq "This is the time" EP [A bridge too far recordings]

This EP is a combination of a talented UK producer, Pat D aka Patrick Dooner, with a dope emcee from Pittsburgh, Melodiq. The result is 4 beautiful jazzy hip hop tracks and an intro. Melodiq blesses Pat D strong productions with his clever lyrics and that's tough to say which track is my favorite!

I like'em all but I think 2 of them deserve a special mention:

"Keep on"

"Doin this"

The icing on the cake is the wonderful artwork provided by french artist Mzel which makes this record a necessary buy for any good hip hop lover! Hurry up, this EP was released in december 2006 (damn, I can't believe that it took 7 months to arrive to my ears!).
And be on the look out for Pat D new project "Kind of peace" in collaboration with UK female emcee Lady Paradox. To be continued...

I'm glad to present the Weed Brothers to you not only because they come from my area (Bordeaux, south west of France) but mainly because this album is full of good vibrations!

Weed Brothers "Non fumeur" [I can fly music]

Weed brothers is the meeting of 2 mc's, Don Argentino & D'OZ (both of local Kroniker rap group) and a jam band called Peyotl. "Non Fumeur" is their first album and was released on july 16th, 2007 on I can fly music label.

To me, the strenght of this project lies in its variety of genres. Weed Brothers deliver one positive message through different atmospheres which makes this CD a perfect soundtrack for your summer!
Whatever the mood you're in, "Non fumeur" will provide the music you need:

...some funk on "Le bon esprit",

...a lil' bit of bossanova on "Venconmigo",

...and a touch of gospel on the wonderful "Terre d'asile"...

Oh, by the way, it's a CD:

First of all, I'd like to thank all the visitors that take a second to share their impressions in the "comments". Any feedback is appreciated and encourages me to update and improve this spot called blog.
Nuff said, one love to all of you bloggers!
Your comments regarding the Trainspotters' post made me wanna share a lil' more with you other than just radio shows and jazzy hip hop 12" reviews. So, here's a few words about my finds of the weekend.

As you might guess, I love spending time digging in the crates hoping to get my hand on some good indy hip hop. Last weekend was a pretty good one for digging. I've been to a local shop and I've copped a nice bunch of wax for a "reasonable" price (80€). Mostly mid to late 90's stuff, some 12"s I already knew, some doubles and some good surprises like "All night" by Da Lowly Ones (1997) and "Street theory 101" by Problem (1996). "All night" has a nice mellow & jazzy feel while "Street theory 101" bangs ya head with that rugged ruff new york street talk... 2 nice pieces of wax!
During this weekend, I've also taken time to record another video and the good thing is that the beat you can hear behind the scratches has been made by me. It's the very first time I take time to make a beat so I wanted to share that with you!

Skalp on the beat & cut!
